It has been a tough year but Allah Almighty is kind and merciful.
The truth about this year, I didn’t expect any sort of celebration for my birthday. I have been going thru a tough time which celebration was not on the top of my list. I was happy and appreciative by the kind birthday wishes from friends, coworkers and family.
Again, Allah Almighty is kind and merciful. For some reason, I truly been showered with unexpected or rather exceptionally unremarkable surprised on my day marking another year for me on the planet.
We dropped by to Lila Wadi Restaurant located at Kuantan, Pahang for supper before heading back to Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Terengganu. I went there once and loved the ambiance of the restaurant and selection of foods. We arrived there few minutes before clock ticking to midnight which will turn me to another year wiser (Hehehe~). Insists to have some sort of remarks of celebration for birthday girl, Haniz and Faris light the lighter and sang the birthday song out loud. We laughed. It was thoughtful and cute.
As time went on and our supper almost done, I realized that the light went off at the back area of restaurant. I was pretty sure the restaurant will be closed soon. Out of sudden, I saw the waitress came out from the kitchen and brought a slice of mango cheesecake with a candle on the top. Birthday song filled the air. I sang along and clapped the hand to share the happiness and joy to whom they were celebrating. I guess this lucky person must be from a group seated in front of the restaurant.
But....I clearly saw the waitress heading straight to our table. I stopped from singing and clapping when I realized everyone were looking at me. Not only me look of utter shocked and confused, Haniz & Faris were wondering what is happening?
Yes...as I couldn’t believe it was happening, the cake and the birthday song was kindly dedicated to me. I remembered I laughed a lot and shocked at the same time. However, things started didn't make any sense when I found out it was not Haniz neither Faris who planned this surprise. I started making observation out of confusion.
She gave me a big smile. She looks radiant and friendly. It was unfamiliar face but I was sure this overwhelming surprise was from her. I blew out the candle and walked over her and gave her a BIG hug. I thanked her for the surprise and asked how did she knows. It was a celebration song sang by Haniz and Faris made it quite noticeable. She said what is a celebration without a cake. I continued to smile.
I got to know her name is Nurul. She not even mentioned about it but I know she has a connection with Lila Wadi Restaurant. I kept thinking how generous and thoughtful of her to shower the surprise to stranger like me. What an amazing person she is. I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for her kindness. There are no words to express the joy she brought me that night.
We continued our journey back to KL. I was scheduled on the next day for a Star Cruise reward trip that coincidentally fell on my birthday to Penang-Krabi-Phuket. As I've made it a habit to go on birthday trip for past several years, this is another unexpected celebration. I felt blessed. It was a refreshing experience as it was the first time out to sea on a cruise for me.
I was blown away with 2nd surprise on the cruise with celebrities and friends. Spending a vacation and celebrate it in an open sea is a memory that will last a life time. We had a good time and enjoyment of the beautiful breeze from the sea. Thanks so much for arranging such a wonderful birthday celebration.
When I didn’t expect any sort of celebration for my birthday, Allah Almighty made it another way around. He is kind and merciful.
